The Key

“Prisoner” that was the word I used yesterday to describe my loss of “independence”. Not being able to drive for over three months; to get out alone and go where I wanted to and when….finally hit me. My usual joi-de-vive departed. My gratitude for being alive got swept under the rug; and the gloomy cloud of grumbling took up too much space in my mind. I locked my own prison door and threw away the key.

This morning it’s a new day and a chance for a new start. PTL! As I journaled my thoughts to my Abba and asked my Holy Helper to show me “the way out”…. Immediately a little kid’s song from our children’s Nathaniel and the Grublets album began to play on the strings of my heart.

Be thankful for the good things that you’ve got
for the good things that you’ve got are for many just a dream
So be thankful for the good things that you’ve got!
THANKFULNESS IS THE KEY TO A HAPPY HEART !

Ah, fresh revelation again. (Am I alone in forgetting past revelations?) When I take my eyes off the positive I begin to travel down a lonely dark road into a prison of my own making.  Amen? Have you been there and bought the T-shirt?  Why not join  me now in counting your blessings; name them one by one…and no matter how hard the gloomy, grumbling spirit may try to lock you into his prion of despair, simply remove the garments of heaviness. And with fresh delight in Jesus, who loves you and HAS set you free, Give Thanks!  This is the key to a happy heart.
Here’s some passages from the Word of God which you may like to use in a time of meditation on being thankful.
Hebrews 12:28

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Psalm 100:4

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

This is my transparent prayer, want to join me?  Father forgive me for taking the eyes of my heart off your love and goodness.  Thank you that in Jesus I am always free to move through life with peace and joy because in heavenly reality, ALL my foes are conquered! I will give thanks in all things and all times and I will hold tightly to the key of thankfulness and use it to turn the tide of negativity or despair, In Jesus’ Name! Amen.
