Accept or Reject Jesus

I have always found it amazing that some people will not accept Jesus’ free gift of salvation but will reject it outright. Presented with the promise of eternal life and a life filled with His help and abiding peace some still choose to go through life without His help.

It reminds me of the Gospel record of Luke 23 verse 21” But they kept shouting,Crucify him! Crucify him!” NIV

Then there are those of us who have accepted Jesus into our lives as our Savior. At some point we made that decision and we feel pretty good about it. However, we may harshly judge those who have rejected Jesus and then we act smug and feel secure that we have heaven already stamped on our spiritual passports.

Let us wake up today concerning the truth of accepting Jesus. What most, and yes I said most, Christians have done is accept Jesus’ invitation into eternal life. The bold truth of the matter is many have rejected Jesus from almost every part of their lives and denied Him access into their whole hearts.

Jesus is both Lord and Savior. If a person goes to an altar and says a sinner’s prayer and accepts Jesus into their life, they must realize that that acceptance is all inclusive. They receive the whole of Jesus not just the part that is convenient to them; the part that easily fits into the life they have already determined that they want to live.

As a Christian we are called to be followers of Jesus. We are called to be His disciples. That is an indication of ownership by Jesus. First Peter 1 verse 18 and 19 says
” For you know that it  was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed (bought back) from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”

If you want to test your heart as to whether Jesus is Lord of your life, make a list of the things you would do if Jesus would ask you to do them. Then make a list of those things that you wouldn’t do if Jesus asked you to do them. A key here is, if you have a second list, realize that you really haven’t accepted Jesus as Lord of your life.

We are approaching the fullness of time and Jesus’ return is near. Let our lives be lived, willingly following each and every leading of our Lord. Let all rejection of Jesus be eradicated from our lives and hearts.

 Let’s Pray:

Jesus, I repent for any time I have turned a deaf ear to your gentle leading. I trust in your unfailing Love and Mercy, and I receive your grace today to recommit my life to you and to accept you fully as not only my Savior but as my Lord and master also.  Teach me Jesus, how to be a true disciple of yours and help me to make this life of mine truly what you have destined it to be. Please help me to bring glory to our Heavenly Father through my obedience to your leading. Wash me afresh with your blood Jesus as I dedicate anew my life to you.    AMEN
