5 husbands & One Guy

“You’ve had five husbands and you’re not married to the guy at home.”

Jesus was exhausted. His trip from Judea to Sychar was long and hot. I imagine He was hungry and thirsty. His disciples, really hungry guys, headed to town to find food. Jesus sat by a well from which he couldn’t draw water. However, it was Jacob’s well – oh the history. If wells could talk.

Jesus knew He had a divine appointment coming. So he waited. A lady with an interesting reputation walked up to the well in the heat of the day. Many of you know the story of the five husbands and one guy… Jesus talk to her for awhile.
Soon the disciples showed up, food and water in hand and, (excuse my description), they really “freaked out”.

Quickly the woman went running into town leaving behind her water pot and her shame. Being confronted lovingly by Jesus with TRUTH; she became the first woman Evangelist to Sychar. As she unashamedly shared about Jesus, many believed.

Back at the well, Jesus shared His heart with His men. “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me.” “The Harvest is ripe” “Open your eyes guys, it’s time to gather”. (my version)

As disciples of Jesus we too need to be lead by Father’s heart for the spiritual needs of others more than the dictates our our own fleshly comforts.. Much seed has been sown and many signs, wonders, and miracles will be on hand to open the eyes of the spiritually blind, and there will be a great harvesting of lives who will finally recognize Jesus as Savior and Lord.

However, many others will come simply because they have heard truth from someone who humbly experienced Truth in his or her innermost being because of and encounter with Jesus.

“Sally Samaratin” (if I may call her that) heard the truth and was set free. Only God knows the rest of the story. I am looking forward to meeting her one day.

1. Draw close to Jesus and you shall know the Truth.
2. Be more aware of the hunger Jesus has for souls than our own physical appetites.
3. Don’t let past shame (now forgiven) keep us from sharing our testimony. There is so much power in Truth. ” Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Jn. 8:32

SO… what do you think happened to the “guy at home”? I’d love to read your comments.
